Shaving Time Off … second by brutal second

Good morning! Can you feel the weekend approaching?! I can!

I am extra excited for this weekend too, because of the Crazy Horse Marathon Relay on Sunday, AND because next week we are going on…v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n! (real vacation for me, working vacation for the Sweetheart)

Next week at this time, the Sweetheart and I will be in beautiful…

…ok, I’m actually not going to tell you just yet. BUT, it’s going to be amazing, and I have been looking forward to it for months and months! I’ve got two really brilliant guest posts lined up for you, and am excited about that too!

In the mean-time…

Can you guess what I did after work yesterday?

It led to this.

Utter exhaustion. Truly…I was that girl who finished her run, and all but fell over as soon as I spotted some shade.

I was saying yesterday that I’d canceled my timed 5K on Tuesday because of the heat. When I checked the forecast yesterday, I realized I needed to either cancel the run for the rest of the week (mmm…no) or just do it, (well hydrated) and do what I could.

Here’s my time.

Sorry for the weird display. During my grass nap, I must have reset the run. But yes, that is 29:13!

   

That’s 8 seconds faster than last week, and almost 3 minutes faster than when I set my goal! Yay!

I felt it though..whew! Brutal!

I try not to measure the difficulty/success of the run the actual day of the run though, it’s really how I feel the day after that tells me if I pushed too hard, not hard enough, or somewhere in the middle. This morning, I feel great! No soreness at all, and I feel really awake. To me, that says that even though the run itself was brutal, it was a good brutal. I pushed my body to to grow stronger…totally worth it! : )

I picked up the Bean after my run, and arrived home to dinner on the table! Lucky! The Sweetheart had thrown together a crock-pot roast in the morning, complete with carrots, onions and potatoes. So delicious!

Back to work now, an exam after work, and an evening of fun in the kitchen! I’ll be working on dinner, a sweet treat, and a breakfast experiment for tomorrow’s post!
