Three Things

Happy almost-Friday! This week, like every week these days, is flying by! I’ve got a ton of work to do today, an exam after work, and a run planned  after that. Whew!

As a quick post today, I wanted to share 3 things with you. I’ve completely stolen the idea from my friend Kathleen, over at The Daily Crumb. I don’t think she’ll mind!

1. In My Cup: Absolutely nothing. I slammed my coffee from home on the drive to work, and arrived to find no one had made a pot. It is sad. Update: Someone is making coffee now, phew!

2. On My Mind: We had our first snow of the year last night. Nothing stuck at the house, but I hear that some places in the Hills got 12 inches!

Here is the family of deer that lives by our house, enjoying the snow yesterday. They seem really cute, but the fact of the matter is that they are downright rude. They ate all of our tomatoes this summer, have very recently taken a liking for jack-o-lanterns, and even gave the Sweet Boy a scar over his eye last year when he went to say, “hello”, and one of them kicked him. Hrmph!

3. On my heart: It’s very possible that Alexa will get my card today. You can read about more about that, here. Certainly by tomorrow she will have it. I haven’t really been nervous at all during the process…until last night. I had serious trouble falling asleep, weird dreams about it all night, and can’t get it off my mind today.  What do you do, right?

Growing up, I developed a deep love for the poetry of Robert Frost. It wasn’t until recently though that I found the following quote. With the knots I find growing in my stomach today, I find it particularly fitting.

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.”

Enjoy your Thursday; wherever you are, whatever your weather may be, and with whatever is on your mind, and in your heart.

  1. My fingers are crossed for you! I hope she responds, and that she does so quickly 🙂

We had a family of deer in our woods two weeks ago. We get them a lot, but not usually so close to the house. My dog went crazy! They are pretty, but I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near them!

    • Thanks Jenn! We are growing less and less fond of our deer family…if they knock over the Bean’s jack-o-lantern one more time…she may just take out after them! Haha!

  2. First snow?! Say it ain’t so!!! I’m so not ready for that!

What a gorgeous picture! That’s so amazing that you have a whole family of deer right in your back yard! We don’t see much of that in the city. 😉

Best of lucky with Alexa! I’m sending warm, positive thoughts your way! 🙂

  3. Snow! I’m jealous! I’m not crazy about cold weather, but I do love snow! *

  4. That very quote has become a touchpoint for me, a mantra as I wait in the limbo land of a non-reunion (I have made contact with my daughter but she had chosen not to respond to any of my efforts).

Best of luck while you play the waiting game. I hope you find someone warm, open, and as gracious about life as you waiting with open arms.

  5. thinking about you! you are so very strong and brave, sweet friend.
