2011 Book Roll

I have had made the wonderful opportunity to read more books this year than ever before in my adult life. A huge part of it is the Sweetheart’s love of reading…it’s so great to have someone to talk about reading, books, authors, plots, and characters with. There also seems to be fewer and fewer interesting shows to watch on T.V. and books have taken a lead role in my down-time!

Favorites from the year

Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls

Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser

Pocketful of Names by Joe Coomer

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

To Be a Runner by Martin Dugard

Nickle and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich

Water for Elephants by Sara Greun

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire

Currently I’m reading…

…and I am loving it!

Happy Wednesday to you!

What does your book roll look like for the year?

  1. I want to read Water For Elephants. It’s on my book list right now. I’m currently reading Found by Jennifer Lauck. It’s adoption related and a fantastic read. But I’m going to need a break from all adoption related reading for a bit when I’m done.

  2. …and for 2012 “Born to Run” (it’s burning a hole on my bookshelf). 😉 Thanks for sharing your book roll friend – I am adding a few of those to my book list. But you have given me an idea…maybe I should blog my 2011 reads.

  3. You like some good books! (Three cheers for Hunger Games!) I’m on a reading roll right now. I just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m started Born to Run tonight.*

  4. Uh…since I *finally* finished school, I have done a lot of reading this year, averaging 10 books a month. Lots of classics, lots of adoption reading, lots of memoirs, lots of non-fiction about U.S. history, lots of non-fiction micro-histories. I think the most influential books I have read this year are “Protecting the Gift” by Gavin de Becker (every parent should read this book, ESPECIALLY if you have a daughter!), “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloots, and “Found” by Jennifer Lauck. Those ones will stay with me for a long, long time.

  5. Genius! I’ve been working on a post like this, too! You’ve inspired me to finish it! 😉 That being said, The Hunger Games trilogy was by far my favorite from this past year!
