Parties and Potato Chips

Good morning! I am currently elbow deep in some leftover roasted garlic hummus from the Sweetheart’s birthday party last night.

It. Was. Awesome. (The party…and the hummus)

Friends, family, drinks, food…and a great reason to celebrate! You can’t really go wrong!

It was a really amazing night…

…that ended in late night cake consumption. Yum!

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the party last night, and to the Sweetheart…for giving us an opportunity to celebrate YOU!

Speaking of cake, er…maybe not so much…I came across this amazing post from Matt over at No Meat Athlete. With a title like, The Only Healthy Eating Guide You’ll Ever Need…it’s gotta be good! He quotes Michael Pollan’s (who, by the way, is not a vegetarian…who knew?!) food rules for healthy eating, and reiterates that the biggest misconception that people have is that a healthy diet is 1. expensive and 2. difficult.

Check them out…the top 4 food rules for healthy living!

  • Buy foods that are made with five ingredients or fewer, all that you can pronounce.
  • Don’t eat anything your grandmother or great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food. (Go-gurt?)
  • Eat only foods that will eventually rot.
  • Eat all the junk food you want, as long as you cook it yourself from whole foods.

Pretty simple, yes?

I especially like the last one…homemade potato chips anyone? Yespleasethankyou!

Anyway, love the post…thought I’d share!

Now, back to my hummus. Mmmm!

Do you agree with these food rules? Do you have others?

P.S. I know it’s Tuesday and I haven’t posted a weigh-in for two weeks. I have excuses, but I won’t bore you. I’ve been eating pretty well and feel great. I promise to get some numbers to you next Tuesday!

  1. I like that last rule, too. I immediately thought of homemade sweet potato fries!*

  2. Nights that end with cake consumption are the best! *runs to the fridge* I totally agree with your food rules! When you have the time, do drop by my space. I just made some Ferrero Rocher bars and would love to hear what you think. Cheers!

  3. I love homemade potato chips! I have to say I disagree with rule #2. My grandparents don’t recognize hummus as food so I think there may be some exceptions to that rule! 😉 Happy holidays!
