Week 1: Check

Happy Friday!

How has this first week of the new year been for you? How are your goals, resolutions, and ideas for 2012 starting out? I heard the other day (I have no idea where I heard it, or if it has any actual validity to it or not) that the first 12 days of the year determines the foundation that you will build the rest of the year on. If this is true, we’re all halfway to that point already!

I’m feeling pretty good about these first 6 days…

  • I’ve stuck to my training plan, which included 7 miles of running, 3 hours of cross-training, and 2 hours of resistance work.  Alexa has stuck to her plan as well…awesome!
  • I’ve had a positive, helpful attitude at work all week.
  • I’ve started each day with a Green Monster, and continued each day with mostly whole foods. I’ve had a bizarre craving for shellfish and shrimp the last two days…I think I ate about 20 cocktail shrimp with dinner last night! I’m thinking about making these tonight…yumm!
  • I’m almost done with Mocking Jay, the final book in the Hunger Game series. I find myself putting it down at night before I’m really ready to…because I don’t want it to be over! Is it weird that I know how many days before the movie comes out? The Bean and I are going to jump back into the Laura Ingalls Wilder series tonight…I love them as much as she does!
  • I think I’ve found an organization to volunteer some time to, which is on my Age Bracket Bucket List, more on that later! I’m excited to see how this unfolds, it’s an amazing organization!

To round out the week, here is a list of things that have caught my attention, amused me, made me hungry, and inspired me!

I discovered a new-to-me food blog that I’m super excited about! Check it out, here.

I was reminded this week how much I love the Runners World Motivation page! Check it out!

I love me some protective mommy claws. Loss of life is sad, yes. Would I have done the same thing? Yespleasethankyou!

Guess what? We all have insecurities at some point in our lives. It does not matter how beautiful you are, or how successful you are…it just happens. Kudos to Demi Moore for her honesty in this article.  Yes, hello. My name is Jamie and sometimes I have fear issues.

I need to throw this in, because it’s my blog I’m a giant nerd, and I can! Check out the cast…interesting for sure! I completely made fun of the Sweetheart for bringing The Hunger Games home one day last year. I am sorry, I was wrong.

Have an amazing weekend!

  1. I’m glad that your year is off to a great start! I loved Mockingjay, although I know some people who thought that was the worst book of the series.*

  2. AH! I LOVED the hunger Games. Hope you’re enjoying them! As much as they are “kids” novels and all that, they really made me think and stuck with me long after the last page had been read!

    • I know what you mean…the last couple sentences of Mocking Jay will totally stick with me for awhile! I just started Girl in Translation…really excited about it. Big change in styles…but looking forward to it!
